Limerick and its University

Limerick City is the Capital of the Mid West and is Ireland's third largest city. Limerick is the fastest growing commercial and industrial centre in provincial Ireland. The City boasts modern infrastructure, facilities and amenities. It has a busy shopping district and is rapidly building a reputation for dining. Limerick is also considered to be the sporting capital of Ireland with excellent facilities and passionate followers of all a sporting activities.

Limerick is an ideal holiday base, just 30 minuets from Shannon Airport, and less than 20 minuets from attractions such as the world famous Bunratty Castle and folk Park.

University of Limerick

The University of Limerick is situated on a riverside campus at the heart of the 600-acre National Technological Park at Plassey, 3 miles from Limerick City and sits on the banks of the River Shannon.

It has the fastest growing student population in Ireland. Between 1990 and 2000 the total student population nearly doubled.

Following the University's open days in October 2002 all on campus accommodation in Dromroe (457students), Kilmurray (525 students) and Plassey Villages (424students) was sold out for the academic year beginning in September 2003. Their waiting lists are also closed.

Due to this exceptional growth in student numbers the University now boasts a student population greater than 12,400 students and this is predicated to increase even further over the coming years.
